Jewelry – Try Body Jewelry, Suggestive and Sexy!

Jewelry can be used for different purposes. General use has been for looking attractive. Some have also been using it for flaunting monetary might, latest fashionable designs and the latest jewelry introductions in the market.

Another type is quite famous with people, this jewelry is available in different prices and different qualities all over the world. This is the body jewelry. It can be subtle and loud at the same time. A belly button ring is small and quite insignificant in size but it can surely attract a lot of attention from people.

Not all of us like the body jewelry, nipple rings, belly button rings, nose rings, pierced tongues, etc. are certainly not for the faint hearted. It is therefore termed as jewelry especially for teenagers because you will find most teenagers wearing this jewelry regularly. Teenagers check out all funky options to look different neither like adults not like children, in fact they use the jewelry as a stepping stone towards the search of their own identity.

Body jewelry is rightly called so because it is worn quite close to the body. Most of the times it is pierced using the piercing guns, therefore a lot of factors need to be taken into consideration before you wear body jewelry, namely hygiene, each time the needle used for piercing should be new, do not recycle or use someone elses’ needle. However, you are most likely to find some chic and unique designs in this range. Some really beautiful and breathtakingly attractive designs can be found in this category.

You will be surprised to find delicate designs like the small butterfly earrings with matching chain locket in the body jewelry range, and this too quite cheaply. If you are looking for some special jewelry for the prom night body jewelry can be the best, affordable and chic you have the choice of finding the one which matches completely with your dress.

Body jewelry can be used by adults too. Find some unique designs that can be very well used to enhance your mood for a special night with your partner. You will find some really romantic charms, bracelets, earrings, etc. that can complete your look for the night.

Suggestive body jewelry has been in fashion, because not just the teenagers lot of adults to wear this type of jewelry for some special occasions just to have some fun showing it off or for increasing fun during intimacy. You will find great designs in body jewelry online; in fact if you search for it, you will find greater range of body jewelry online that anywhere in the stores around you.

For wearing body jewelry you need not pierce yourself, instead you can wear it normally like any other jewelry, but you will find sensuous feeling in body jewelry unlike any other type of normal jewelry. There are the clips that can be attached or strings you can use to hook belly button rings and wind them around your waist both would give equally sexy look.

5 Types of Cultural Jewelry From Around the World

There are countless different groups of people and cultures throughout the world. On one continent, in one country, you can find varying languages, traditions and ways of life.

Each culture might have their own way of dress, and along with it, their own distinct style of jewelry. Whether the culture’s jewelry has faded away and is now seen as only pieces of history, or whether the styles are still worn proudly today, looking at different cultures around the world and how they express themselves through jewelry is a fascinating journey.

Native American Jewelry: After Columbus made the mistake of thinking that American was really India and thus dubbing the native people “Indians,” it took awhile for the term “Native American” to be embraced. One thing has always been certain: The Native American culture has a flare for creating beautiful and distinct jewelry. Turquoise is often used in the pieces created, and is set against a simple silver or gold. Necklaces often feature ropes of small, rough turquoise beads and animals like bears and eagles are featured in simple pendants. Earrings often have the dreamcatcher design; an interweaving of threads that legend says are supposed to catch and hold your dreams.

African Jewelry: African jewelry gets is simplistic beauty from using the most natural materials available. Polished wooden bracelets, bone bead necklaces and coconut disk hair bracelets are just a few of the things you may see in a country like Nigeria. Ethiopian crosses are featured on more commercial jewelry, and some feature amber, a commonly found stone in Africa. Where glass and brass are available, they are shaped and hammered into earrings and pendants, the glass is often sanded down into colorful beads for a necklace or bracelet.

Tibetan Jewelry: Tibetan jewelry finds its origins in the spiritual rather than in the materials used to make the jewelry you may see. Much if the jewelry seeks to teach its wearer that the truth lies inside of them, according to legend. The Om symbol often adorns pendants, meant to capture the first frequency that created the universe. The Tibetan knot is seen as the cause and effect that runs through everyone’s lives, as well as encompasses the wheel of karma. Some necklaces features Tibetan words stamped or pressed into silver or gold, and held by a simple black cord. If more natural symbols are used, it is common to see leaves and trees.

Celtic Jewelry: Celtic jewelry continues to enjoy as much popularity today as it did when the symbology, designs and legends first came to life. Celtic patterns like triskles, crosses and intricate knotwork adorn rings, necklaces, earrings and bracelets, and the material they are featured on isn’t nearly as important and historical as the designs themselves. Celtic squares are often seen in the form of shield knots and they are supposed to help in keeping evil spirits at bay. Celtic spirals symbolize rebirth or the cycle of life. Celtic circles represent the eternally related circle of life and death.

Hawaiian Jewelry: Hawaiian jewelry is renowned for its emphasis on shells. Thick ropes of varying types of shells (most commonly puka shells) can be found everywhere from tourist shops to exclusive online retailers. Hawaiian jewelry also features thick nut necklaces, often made from kuki nuts. Any more contemporary earrings and other jewelry often feature symbols of the island: palm trees, frogs, turtles and flowers. On the finer side, black pearls are a rare and stunning choice for rings or Hawaiian earrings, as are anything that incorporates coral from the depths of the ocean.

No matter which cultural style you are drawn to, you can be sure to find a stand-out and historically beautiful piece of jewelry.

How to Clean Your Vintage Jewelry – It Does Require Certain Precautions!

How to clean your vintage jewelry? The methods should vary according to the piece. If it consists entirely of metal (such as a gold chain or silver brooch) – then I would highly recommend purchasing an ultrasonic cleaner. There are many different models out there and most recommend using their cleaning solution which of course provides the manufacturer a never ending income.

We found a very nice unit that can be used with distilled or tap water and or distilled/tap water with a drop or two of dish washing liquid. It does a wonderful job! But beware! This type of cleaning is not suitable for all jewelry. If your jewelry has stones attached then you must carefully evaluate the stones, settings and overall condition, Soft materials such as pearls; opals, coral and others will be damaged by the ultrasonic waves!

We never submerge any stones that have a foil backing. If the stones are not prong set then be aware that the glue may break loose and the stone/stones may become loose. Be prepared to re-glue the stones and always, always check the strainer basket, water and piece cleaned before throwing out the water used!
You will probably want to have some good slow drying glue designed for jewelry available. We have had good success with UHU twist and glue. Do not use the new fast drying glues. You have no margin of error when placing the stones and their composition is hard on foil backing. Clean up should you place too much glue in the setting is near impossible!

After the ultrasonic bath – we recommend placing the freshly cleaned jewelry on a soft towel and then taking your hand held hair dryer and gently drying the piece. Be careful not to cook the piece! Gently dry and then leave it out in a warm dry area. We usually dry a piece or pieces, let it sit for an hour or so and then dry it again. We always let a piece sit out (on a different towel) for several days before storing. Moisture can be very devastating to your prized pieces!

As we discussed – some pieces are not suitable for the ultrasonic cleaner. For these pieces, we recommend the basic cleaning with Q-tips and clean water. On some occasions, we will use the suds from dishwashing solution. Jewelry that has rhinestones with foil backing should never be submerged.
The moisture can seep between the stone and the foil and leave dark spots or even destroy the foil entirely. It can also serve to help loosen the glue. Be very careful and always dry your jewelry after cleaning. Even when just using a damp Q-tip.

These fortunate pieces have survived decades and are now entrusted to you and your care. Please treat them accordingly. You now own a piece of history so please take the time to treat it as such. If we should be caught out in the rain or a damp night – my lovely wife will dry her treasured vintage jewelry upon our return. This jewelry has survived upwards to fifty years and beyond. Now, YOU are its worst enemy or best friend.
Some pieces may require a more intensive cleaning than a Q-tip can provide.

A soft bristled toothbrush often will work quite well. No toothpaste – only water or foamy soapsuds. Never use an old toothbrush. Toothpaste is abrasive and there may be remnants left on the brush. Some pieces may need even more assistance to get the dirt and grime out of the recessed areas. Before scraping – try to restore that wonderful sheen lost over the years. Some experts suggest using a dental pick against metal – we recommend a gentler approach.

Any superstore or pharmacy should sell dental floss sticks – usually a C shaped head with dental floss stretched tight across the C and a handle that comes into a nice thin point. The added benefit of these is you can use them for their intended purpose and then set them aside and use them for those tiny little areas of your precious treasures. Healthy gums and jewelry for the same price!

Patina – What is patina? It’s the green gunk you might see on your vintage jewelry. Either the plating was poorly done – it might have been damaged at some point in time and this green almost algae like growth has occurred. What can you do to repair this? Have the item re-plated is about the only solution.

Sometimes it works – sometimes it causes more problems than it solves. The problem with patina is that the item is already damaged the integrity of this lovely item. The plating is already damaged. It has been eaten away and the patina is a rust like or cancerous material on your treasure. Sometimes, it can actually accent the item.

As a general rule though – patina is not desirable on jewelry. Some will try to remove it with a pencil eraser (our personal preference). Some will try vinegar on a cue tip or even catsup applied with a cue tip for about five minutes. The advantage of the catsup is that it should stay where applied and should not affect the other areas. It does have a vinegar (acidic base) that will devour the green “cancer”. The ultrasonic cleaner will also remove this growth. BUT, you have not cured anything.

The piece has had damage. You have removed a never healing scab and it will surely re-appear. The metal plating is gone forever. The surface has been damaged! Each time you clean it to remove the growth – you have removed a little more of the existing plating.

Some recommend cleaning and drying thoroughly and then coating with a clear coating such as fingernail polish. Beware though – should you choose this method – it will probably bond to the other plating and should it suffer an injury or you try to clean again – you may end up removing even more of the plating. Be very careful.

Although this jewelry is well designed and crafted – it was never expected to last his long. It was designed for an event or perhaps even a season or two. Yet now, it is an ever increasing investment!

You have a piece of history and artwork that if treated accordingly – will last for many more years and become either a heirloom or retirement asset. Or junk – your choice!

Jewelry Display Tips – 10 Successful and Profitable Ways to Display Handcrafted Jewelry

Since starting my handcrafted jewelry business , I’ve displayed my items at many craft shows, fairs, festivals, home jewelry parties, etc. I often have a show two or three days a week. I have picked up many display ideas along the way. I have, also, had other vendors incorporate my ideas into their own displays.

One of the most important things to remember, is that you want your display to be appealing to the customer. Your jewelry or craft may be beautiful, however, that won’t matter if the display doesn’t look enticing enough for the potential customer to come take a look.

When it comes to jewelry, I find organization of items is very important. I have seen displays in which other jewelry designers have no particular organization in there presentation. That is their choice. I have had MANY customers comment on how much easier and quicker it is to find what they’re looking for when a display is organized.

Here are some tips and ideas for displaying jewelry items:

TIP #1:

-Display jewelry sets together. For instance, I display my chakra jewelry together on one mirror.

TIP #2:

- Display jewelry pieces for each category (ex. necklaces, bracelets, earrings, etc.) in the same general area. It will be easier for your customers to locate specific items.

TIP #3:

- Organize bracelets by style, gemstone, color, etc. Whatever seems best for you. I separate my bracelet displays by gemstones. For example: I may have quartz, jade and carnelian bracelets on one display, my awareness bracelets on another, and so on.

TIP #4:

- Earring displays are personal preference. I have seen some designers display their earrings on hanging displays without an earring card, some prefer to hang them on a board display or earring rack, others use a rotating display. I use a rotating earring rack, as it takes up less space and I am able to display over 100 pairs of earrings. I use black flock earring cards to hang my earrings on and I include rubber earring backs with my earrings. This helps to keep the earrings in place on the card and offers the customer an added bonus to the earrings .

TIP #5:

-Be creative when displaying your jewelry pieces. I use black velvet and white leatherette jewelry displays, beveled mirrors and wire jewelry holders. Mirrors are a great way to display your jewelry-they are simple, inexpensive and elegant! I use them to display my featured pieces and jewelry sets. Beveled mirrors can be purchased in a variety of sizes at your local craft store or jewelry supplier.

TIP #6:

- It is not recommended to use flat displays. A lot of shows will not accept a vendor if they have a flat table display. It’s just not attractive! It is also recommended to have more than one tier in your display. I use the shelf from an old computer desk. I cover it with a piece of black velvet material and sit it on the back center of my table. It is perfect for displaying my business sign, a few necklace stands and smaller pieces of jewelry.

TIP #7:

-Cover your table! What colors you choose are up to you. However, if you choose a pattern that is too “busy”, it may take away from your jewelry. I use black tablecloths when displaying my jewelry. To accent the black color, I use runners or large fabric table napkins in the colors of the season. I’ll use rust colors in the fall, red and green in the winter..you get the idea. I also, display inexpensive “props” on my table. I use small wood pumpkins, small candles, clip on ornaments, etc. Make your table appealing to the buyer!

TIP #8:

- Include a business card display on your table. This will promote your business and lead to repeat customers.

TIP#9:

-Make signs. I use tent cards to make it easier for customers to find what they’re looking for. I design my own tent cards on the computer using tent card sheets or card stock. I then cut them to the size I want. I label each of my categories with a tent card. For example: “Awareness Bracelets”,”Men’s Jewelry”,”Children’s Jewelry”, “Anklets”. I also make tent cards labeled with my services. For example: “Custom Orders Available”, “Host a Jewelry Party”, “Bracelet Lengths Can be Adjusted”.

TIP #10

-Make sure you have a business sign. Promote, promote, promote! Make or purchase a sign with your business name, logo and/or description. I have an 8″ x 10″ sign on my table display ( I designed and printed my own sign out on the computer and put it into a picture frame) and I also have a vinyl sign that hangs in front of my table. If you’re interested in a vinyl sign, you can make your own using a vinyl sign kit (available in craft stores) or you can purchase one from a sign company.

It’s best to make your display neat and professional, and let your personality reflect on it.

An attractive display will be far more appealing to potential customers. Be creative!

The Career Woman’s Guide to Tights

Nothing makes a woman’s daily work routine more pleasant than knowing her fashion choices are over the top. Whether your goal is to dress professionally, turn heads or make a statement, choosing the proper tights to match your work attire can help you reach your goals. Tights make great leg warmers for winter weather, but they can really be worn year round with so many colors and styles available. These tips can help you choose tights that are fashionable and comfortable to fit your style.

Fit and Comfort

There’s a fine line between the way tights fit and comfort. Each style has its own pros and cons. If you want supportive tights, opt for control top. These fit tightly at the tummy and waist to ensure maximum support for your hips and lower back. They also help hide some of that unwanted tummy fat. Be sure to buy control top tights that are not too tight at the stomach, as these can cause pain and discomfort with prolonged periods of wear during work hours. Regular tights may fit comfortably at the tummy, but do not offer the support of control top. There are also tights that support your legs, feet and ankles if you are constantly on your feet. If you do a lot of sitting at the desk or walking, buy tights that provide flexibility in any position.

If you prefer not to have tights fitted at your tummy, you’ll also find tights that are supported at the knees or thighs, or held with a garter such as suspender tights. Knee-highs or thigh-highs and holdups generally work well when wearing pants and long skirts to work. There are also footless tights or leggings that fit just above the ankle or below the knee.

Opaqueness

Sheer tights offer a little support but no color. They mimic bare legs, and are usually very thin. Sheer tights tend to snag or get runs easily, so choose your brand wisely and always keep a back-up pair in your drawer or purse! Choose opaque or thicker tights for wintertime warmth and durability.

Tights and Colors

Hosiery tradition says to wear tights that are black, white or tan. But today’s working woman can mix/match an array of colorful tights to create the look and feel desired. Tartan tights, for example, are a holiday season favorite with plaid colors designed to brighten any fall or winter apparel. These come in a variety of color blends with red, yellow, blue, green, brown and orange. Or, dare to add solid colored tights to your wardrobe. There are so many colors available today, especially when considering top brands such as Le Bourget All Colours. These come in gorgeous solid colors such as blue, cobalt, yellow, green, lily, fuchsia, purple, white, and red. If you dare to be different, opt for zebra or leopard prints, floral or striped prints…or even lace-up tights!

Styles of tights to consider are silk, wool, seamless tights, ultra sheer, wedding tights, fashion tights, sandal toe, full figure tights, and seamed tights. Also compare brands based on style, durability and comfort. Buy only one pair each from several manufacturers to make sure the tights will work for you. Some great brands for stockings and pantyhose that are UK based include Aristoc, Cette, Pretty Polly, Oroblu, Trasparenze, Leg Avenue, Gipsy, Jonathan Aston and Le Bourget.

For a variety of styles and colors, shop online to find affordable tights and hosiery. Expand your fashion world with tights that will make your co-workers say, “Wow!”
