The Myth of Eggplant
Some suggestion for man not to consume the eggplant because it can decrease the libido is only myth. That myth appears because people are assotiating the man sexual organ or penis with the eggplant which will be weak and has the smooth textures as the cooking process result.
Traditionally, the eggplant is used for the medicine of gum swelling, mouth inflammation, hemorrhoids, sore on the nose, cracked bones, smoothing the urine, and fever. People are still using it until now.
The eggplant skin contains of flavonoid and antiocsidant which can help decreasing the risk of heart diseases and stroke. Eggplant contains of compound terpen which can decrease the cholesterol level. The eggplant research which is using the rabbit for the experiment shows that giving the eggplant juice will be able to decrease the cholesterol level and fixing the blood flow.
The eggplant is also contains of compounds chlorogenic acid, one type of antioxidants, which according to several research has several useful activities such as anticancer, antimicrobials, antivirus and it also has the ability to decrease the LDL level cholesterol (bad cholesterol). It is also contains of tripsin inhibitor. This tripsin inhibitor is believed can help neutralize the cancer cell.
From several types of eggplant, such as Solanum khasianum, Solanum laciniatum, and Solanum grandiflorum, it is known that those eggplants are containing the alkaloid compound in the form of solasodin which is 2.0 up to 3.5 percent. That compound can be use as the raw materials for oral contraception such as pill to planning family program.
